The harmonious dialogue between modern architecture and history characterises the zeitgeist of the financial capital. Its cultural diversity is evident today in ambitious projects of an international calibre, such as the Museum Embankment.

'Old Frankfurt' guided city tour

Guided tour through the historic city centre.  We will show you the 'Römer' town hall, the cathedral, where emperors of the Holy Roman Empire were elected and crowned, and St Paul's Church, the seat of Germany's first parliament from 1848.

On our way to the city centre, you have the option of visiting the Goethe House.

'Now and Then' guided city tour

Guided walking tour that takes you from the old town to Frankfurt's banking district and includes a ride up to the viewing terrace of the Main Tower at an altitude of 200 m, offering you an impressive view of the city and the surrounding region. The tours tell you all about Frankfurt's history as well as about famous personalities, everyday life, and the city's special features.

Walking in the footsteps of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Goethe was born in Frankfurt on 28 August 1749 and he spent his childhood and youth here. During his time in Frankfurt, he wrote some of his major works, which today form part of world literature, such as The Sorrows of Young Werther.
As part of the tour, we will visit

• the Goethe House
• Frankfurt's historic centre including places that Goethe mentioned in his autobiography and some of his other works. 

Frankfurt, financial capital of Germany

This themed tour presents the development of Frankfurt from a medieval trade fair town to today's financial capital. A visit to the viewing terrace of the Main Tower at an altitude of 200 m shows how the city's economic development is reflected in its architecture.
As part of the tour, we will visit

• the historic centre, where trade fairs were held in the Middle Ages
• the commercial district, today the city's dynamic centre
• the financial district
• On request, we can organise a visit of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange or the European Central Bank

Tour of St Paul's Church and the Imperial Hall

During the Holy Roman Empire, Frankfurt played a major role as the place where emperors were elected and crowned. Today you can visit the cathedral and Imperial Hall where these important events took place.
In 1848, St Paul's became the seat of Germany's first elected parliament. Today it is a national monument. Its architecture and a dedicated exhibition remind visitors of Germany's first large-scale democratic movement.

Modern architecture

Visitors to Frankfurt are always impressed by its skyline, formed by the skyscrapers, which are mostly banks' headquarters. A number of famous architects have contributed to the city's "face lift", such as Sir Norman Foster, who designed the Commerzbank Tower; at a height of 259 m, it was until recently Europe's tallest building. Other major architects – and not only of skyscrapers – have left their mark, such as Mario Bellini or Massimiliano Fuksas. 
As part of the tour, we will visit

• the financial district, including a ride to the viewing terrace of the Main Tower at an altitude of 200 m, which permits a panoramic 360° view of Frankfurt's architecture.
• the Museum Embankment, a project from the 1980s that was developed under the motto 'living and working along the river'; Das Museumsufer, ein anspruchsvolles Projekt der 80er Jahre. it creates a link between culture and modern and historic architecture
• the Römerberg town hall square and rebuilt historic centre
• On request, we can organise visits inside some of the skyscrapers, some of which host major modern art collections.
